Nurse Aide (VBON requirement for CNA)

The Nurse Aide Program prepares students with the knowledge needed to work
competently in any facility that employs Nurse Aides (i.e., hospitals, nursing
homes, assisted living facilities, private duty, and home healthcare). Nurse Aides work
under the supervision of a nurse and can take vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature)
and assist patients with:
- Bathing
- Toileting
- Dressing
- Grooming
- Eating
- Walking
- Turning bedridden patients
- Helping wheelchair bound patients
- Reporting changes to the nurse
- Safety awareness
- Documentation
Upon successful completion of the program students will receive a certificate of completion
and be eligible to take the Certified Nurse Aide(CNA) Exam for Virginia State Board of Nursing Certification as Certified Nurse Aide(C.N.A).
